Q: What does “self-powered” mean for the FireNEX™-uHUB?
A: The FireNEX™-uHUB receives its downstream power entirely from an external power supply rather than from the host computer. When the external power supply is turned off, the hub and all downstream USB ports also lose power, even if the upstream USB cable remains connected. This allows connected bus-powered devices, such as USB cameras, to be turned off or power-cycled using an external power controller.
